Parktrees.ca is a prototype project developed by the Urban Forest Research & Ecological Disturbance (UFRED) Group at Ryerson University.
Dr. Andrew Millward and his research associate, Nikesh N. Bhagat, have been developing online tools together since 2010 that map, track, and analyse trees and tree inventories in the City of Toronto.
Parktrees.ca is a prototype web application developed by UFRED Group with seed funding from Park People and the MITACS Accelerate Grant Program.
Our vision is to leverage the pervasiveness of smartphones to turn our urban forests into interactive classrooms.
Urban forests are valuable natural assets to any city. They provide us with beautiful aesthetics and produce ecological services that enhance our lives everyday.
Heightened care and maintenance of our urban forests is Parktrees' ultimate goal and we plan to acheive it through education and stewardship.
